What does a 17th Century Japanese poetic form have to do with healing grief ? More than you might think. Join poet and psychotherapist Glen Walton to discover the inherent peace that dwells within Haiku. Participants will gently explore their own psyche to find both the source of emotional pain and possible solutions. Utilizing images from nature, paired with emotional content provided by life experiences, learn how to craft beautiful Haiku to allow the expression of grief – and begin your own healing. The workshop will more thoroughly study the origin and elements of Haiku. Most of the time is allowed for participants to create their own Haiku to address personal grief and loss issues. Participants will also learn how to begin to utilize Haiku as a therapeutic tool for use with patients struggling with their own grief issues.

Glen Walton, M. Ed. LMSW/IPR studied with William Glasser, M.D. at The Institute for RealityTherapy in Los Angeles. Mr. Walton has published poetry in Cenizo and Desert Candle. He currently works with patients and their families at Home Hospice in Odessa, Texas.

Horses Healing Healers

by Win Simon & Florian Birkmayer MD

A 1-Day Retreat

Saturday January 9, 2016  10am-3pm

Relax and rejuvenate in a fun and inspiring environment with horses. As healers, our self-nurturing sometimes takes a back seat to the endless demands of our work and clients. Horses offer profound healing when we allow ourselves to be in the present in their presence. They also allow us to improve our communication, assertiveness and team-work skills.

Open to healers of all traditions.

As part of the retreat, you will be treated to a gourmet vegetarian lunch by one of the premiere vegan and vegetarian caterers in Albuquerque!

Win Simon is a Level 2 EAGALA-certified equine therapist and horse whisperer. Florian Birkmayer MD is a holistic psychiatrist and addiction specialist and the founder of the Birkmayer Institute.

Fee: $125 (includes lunch) CEUs available
